The network focuses on Surface Technologies as an industrial driver in this new SURFERA-PLUS project. The branch of materials science known as surface technologies focuses on altering their ultimate frontier to protect them or give them new functions. The objectives of excellence will focus on the creation of a research and training programme that addresses the technological demands of two strategic sectors: transport and energy.

Cervera Surf-era plus network's mission is to create scientific and technological value in the field of surface technologies that provide new products and processes in industrial companies, thus increasing their competitiveness and facilitating their internationalization.
The NETWORK aims to support companies in their development and innovation plans by providing knowledge and technological capabilities to integrate surface engineering solutions in their manufacturing processes and aspires, finally, to become a pole of attraction for research and innovation talent in CERVERA technology.
The objective of SURFERA-PLUS is to create value in surface technology and materials coatings, benefiting the Spanish industrial sector through research, development, and transfer of advanced products and services. This grouping of different partners aim to become a recognized center of excellence (nationally and internationally), for the industry and the ecosystem R&D by conducting joint activities in applied research, technological training, exploitation, internationalization, and co-creation communication to society. The RED's global strategy includes objectives such as achieving scientific and technological excellence, positioning in contracted industrial R&D, training scientific and technological personnel, and international projection.
AIN has developed advanced PVD equipment with 4-evaporators Magnetron Sputtering, enabling DC_Pulsed, HIPIM, and DUAL-BIPOLAR processes. Pilot scale equipment for cathodic arc technologies is being upgraded to high-speed arc technology. AIN also has PI3 equipment for PI3 implantation, allowing conductive and insulating layers deposition.
The range of applications is very diverse, from high hardness and low friction coatings for advanced machining and forming tools, coatings for applications in renewable energy (solar, H2), to highly effective decoative-antimicrobial surfaces.
The characteristics of the unique equipment available at TEKNIKER for the development of the activities proposed in the project includes Laser structuring system using pulsed fs sources, adapted to high-speed processing on flat and curved surfaces. The PILOT has an in-situ confocal optical characterization module, and digitization for a zero-defects-manufacturing objective.

The company offers various equipment for controlling wet coatings, including robotized systems and continuous coating techniques, and pilot plants for complex geometry and cylindrical specimens.

CTME's thermal projection department has 4 projection technologies (Plasma (APS), High speed projection (HVOF), Metallization (FLAME-POWDER) and Cold spray. These technological facilities are automated, monitored and certified UNE-EN-9100 and NADCAP and approved by Safran and ITP Aero. In addition, it has an automatic sand blasting equipment for the activation of substrates and laboratory equipment for the performance of accredited tests to evaluate the spraying efficiency and coating quality.
CIDETEC currently has 14,000 m2 of facilities, with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies that will enable the entire value chain to be addressed, from scientific-technological research to industrial scaling. Specifically:

AIN, a private technology centre, was founded in 1963 and has a workforce of 108. Idonial Foundation, a private non-profit organization, was formed from the merger of PRODINTEC Foundation and ITMA Foundation in Asturias. CTME has participated in national and international projects related to chemical and physical surface treatment, including Clean Sky and thermal project infrastructure.
